Stepless scrolling in app launcher in SFOS 2.0

If your installed apps in the app launcher don't fit in one screen, you have to scroll through the launcher in fixed steps of a full screen height. This made sense in the old UI, where the launcher was part of the main view, where you scrolled from screen to screen vertically.

Now in the 2.0 UI the app launcher is an overlay. Here the screen-to-screen scrolling is not necessary for the UI logic any more, but is is a bit annoying. Especially in my case: I have just two folders too much to fit all in one screen. Now if I scroll down, they are on top of an empty page. It would be better if they were just at the bottom when I scroll down. So please make the scrolling stepless.

By the way, don't forget about the other issue with the app launcher ;).

I prefer the fixed step way because it's easy to see in which page you are in and where is the app you're looking for. In your case steppless scrolling would indeed be better but I have 4 pages of apps (which I really need to organize.) Without the steps I would be very lost with the giant wall of apps.

Oh, I see. We have a different approach to organise our apps. I put most of my apps in folders. Before the last upgrade all apps and folders fitted in one page, but with the new UI the top row is in the launcher grid as well, so the last two folders are on the second page now. A compromise to fit both approaches would be to scroll stepless but snap in softly on page breaks. Additionally the pages could be marked visually (for example by lines or different background colors).

Or they could just add an option to choose between the two scrolling styles. Lines could indeed be used between pages and it would be even cooler if you could organize apps as groupes and seperate them with lines. That way you could have apps that you use a lot neatly organized but still don't need add a step to access by creating a folder.

Folders would be fine for me though but I want them to work logically (the link in your original post) and be able to change the picture of them to something more suitable than the few options they now have and a huge number in the middle.

This feature would be even more useful than before, now that you can edge swipe the launcher. For example imagine swiping a row of icons visible and tapping one. Thats what I call ergonomics!

This idea deserves visibility, but I still think it's a duplicate of this old feature request. Should they be merged?

This is now possible using a patch. Thanks Coderus for developing such a great patch.
