bug: adding chat (instant messaging) to contacts

When receiving a facebook chat message I want to add the particulars to one of my listed contacts so I swipe left and use the pulley menu to link which brings up the contact list. I then choose the contact that I want to link to. However it does not add the facebook chat credentials of this person to my contact info. I don't know i this matters but this contact already has some other instant messaging infos listed (e.g. google, etc).

Anyone else experience this? Am I doing something wrong?

PS: The "link" feature in the contact list seems to have the same purpose as the "merge" feature on the N900 which I think is a better name and works more natural (depending on the intention of the author)

Yes I noticed the same behavior: Most of my facebook contacts i am able to link and most of them appear in the contacts app since the first syncing with facebook. but there are some fb-contacts, with do not sync with my jolla and only appear with a number (something like 1000000326648472@chat.facebook.com) in the message-app. these contacts i just see in the in the message-app after they wrote a fb-message i cannot link to any contact from my contact list. i can't even save them as a new contact. I think these are contacts, who set special privacy settings at facebook according to apps and excluded me from chat, that they always appear as offline for me.

You might be on to something,.. how to investigate? I can ask my contacts that exhibit this problem about their settings.

As for the wording: It seems that, in fact, is is a link rather than a merge. You can easily unlink contacts again (which is a great feature). Merged contacts stay merged.

Thanks ossi1967i suspected something like that. However I could not find how to unlink. What did I miss?

I also experience the same problem.. anyone else on my FB syncs to my jolla contacts and i can see their status and stuff but my girlfriend.. her FB chat doesńt seem to exist on my Jolla. when ever she writes to me via FB chat i get the 293829384@chat.facebook.com the message from and i cannot even reply to the message..? also there is no feature to manually add the fb chat username to her contact with phone number.. i also did factory reset to my phone and resynced with FB bt no.. Any hints? clues? .
