How does the calendar notifications in the event view work? [answered]

I defined yesterday an event in the calendar, that happens this morning. I've never seen any notification in the notification page. I've also an event tomorrow, and for this one too, I don't see any notification. Note that the notification page is configured to show the calendar events. What's the problem?

You need to enable the reminder for the event that you want to be notified of. It says "Remind me" and then this and that many minutes/hours/days before. Worked for me

So... It's still not going to show me when someone's birthday is coming up? :'(

Thank you for the answer. In would be better if the calendar entries are shown even without reminder. Or at list it should be configurable.
