Change the term "Ringtone volume" in Settings
It is confusingly named as Ringtone volume, although it affects all the sounds (excluding media playback). It is found in
Settings > System > Sound & Feedback and
Settings > System > Ambience and note also,
the volume rocker / button controls these sounds when not playing media.
Curiosity as an use case, if needed to clarify this bug among the versatile Ambience issues: I modify an ambience to have a silent ringtone but a normal sms sound. By adjusting the volume slider I accidentally mute also the sms sound.
Then you choose a volume for the tones and set an action for calls -> No sound. Now your phone doesn't ring, but you hear the sms. :)
raketti ( 2015-09-25 18:46:26 +0200 )editStill the term is misleading and should be changed: Ringtone -> e.g. System Sounds. The use case above is just a curiosity; don't let it confuse you.
JoHe ( 2015-09-25 21:39:45 +0200 )edit@JoHe, that's true. System sounds would be better as it covers more.
raketti ( 2015-09-25 21:46:44 +0200 )editI would call it Notification sounds, because the term "system sounds" is already used for things like low battery warnings in the settings (selectable in the section "feedback" of the sounds settings menu)
wanderer ( 2015-09-25 22:11:53 +0200 )edit@wanderer - Notification sounds could describe it well, didn't think of the system sounds usage, but as you mentioned it's sort of taken already.
