Birthdays are attached to contacts, not to events.

so is there a way to import facebook birthdays to contacts or do we have to add all of them manually?

You need to import facebook contacts, not facebook birthdays and link them... no idea how you save facebook contacts... I'd rather not rely on FB for knowing birthdays...

fb contacts get importet with the facbook/messanger account without problems. just not the b-days...

Your answer below is one way, if Jolla decided to drop the bday field from import there is for sure a reason, as it threw constant alarms in the beginning. FB integration is anything but fun ever since that API upgrade.

so here is a - veryvery complicated - but working solution:

  • i did implement facebook birthdays on my thunderbird calendar through webcal
  • then exportet calendar as .ics file to my owncloud
  • then integratet .ics file from my owncloud to jolla according this:
  • Server address: http://yourserver/ or https://yourserver/ Server path: /path_to_owncloud_directory/remote.php/caldav/calendars/your_username/ (found in this thread)

so now facebook birthdays are still not to find in the contacts but at least they are listed in the calendar.

How about using another client to export FB contacts incl. birthdays? (I still do not see the point as like at least 30% of my fb friends either have no bday set or set a wrong date on purpose, those people I care about the birthdays I know them from somewhere else and have that in my contacts. Well, I maintain my contacts ever since I have contacts and started out with a generic calendar on paper for birthdays and a spreadsheet for numbers and addresses. That is what I can rely on, sourcing stuff from outside will at some point be merged at some point and from there on out I do not rely on outside sources that much.)

good point to think about - and i know it' s not a real good solution but i would have to add way too much b-days manually so i prefer this way for the moment.
