Anyone interested in developing a Slack client for Jolla? The API documentation looks good and basic functionality would be perfectly enough. I might give it a try if I had enough time.

Slack is a messaging application for teams, no matter work or free-time. It is free to use up to some point and I was kind of hoping that this would be a solution to the problems with certain messaging/IM provider... :)

What is Slack? What is it good for? Perhaps expand the question a little with a bit more information

I'll develop a slack client once my time allows me to do so. You may want to follow project status (nothing yet): https://github.com/neversun/Slackfish

Nice to hear, we use Slack at work for team and company communication and as such it has been really good. Though I would love a full open Source replacement but until one arrives we will keep Slacking.

also have a look at "flowfish" which is a client for Flowdock, a very similar service to slack

Any news on Slackfish? Is it still under development? I started to use Slack myself and, although it's not free and open source, I have to admit that it is a great collaborative tool. For those interested, it also makes a very interesting Whatsapp alternative with synchronization among devices (although it is not the only tool to do that, but it also offers the ability to group many protocols from IRC to Slack or others provided that you fiddle a little with bots or node.js, plus the benefits of plugins). I would love to see a native application for Slack, even though the Android one is not bad.

I am not able to attach the client to a team (here metaebene@slack.com) after logging in. Is this a problem of the client or must the team leader allow the usage of a client??

I need to try this out with an account that is not a slack team admin. I'll get back to you once I have done some tests.

It seem like it's only available for ARM, can't find it from the Jolla tablet. Is the source available to compile it myself, and can you add i486 to the store?

EDIT: I found slackfish on github, but is the same as found in the store?

I need to do some UI changes for the tablet version. I'll add tablet version to the store once it is complete.

Alright, no rush! Did you see my edit? Is this a completely different project from the one on github with the same name from Never?
