The back button is quite small on the tablet and hitting it requires some effort. There is also the risk of double tapping because of lag or just a bump in the road.

It would be great to be able to swipe backwards or forwards on the address bar and have the browser go back or forward.

Hi, swipe for back and forward in browser has already been asked here: https://together.jolla.com/question/88733/feature-request-swipe-gesture-in-the-browser-to-go-backforward-in-the-history/ albeit not limited to address bar.

Anyway it would be an intuitive gesture.

That question is not the same thing. I think that swipe forward and back from the main content on the page is a horrible horrible idea. It conflicts with panning the page and will result in tons of "no I didn't, mean to go back"-moments. If it's only available on the address bar, there is no problem.

WebOS was based on the idea that some of the gestures were done below the screen, and it worked really well, so I'm fairly confident this would work too.

I think swipe inside address bar is a wonderful idea which is why it also got my vote. But as a refinement of an already existing idea or request, from my point of view it would rather suit as an answer there.
