Option to select which Android apps shouldn't be paused when minimized

A few updates ago, we got the ability to keep alive the daemon of the Android apps when closing them. What I also would love to see, is the ability to add the option to have Android apps also running while it's visible in the covers.

Right now, the apps pauses itself when you minimize them. Some apps (like YouTube) also stops playing the video altogether. But if we could enable "Do not pause when minimize", the app wouldn't even think that it's minimized.

Today, on Sailfish OS 2.0.10, I have had some weird glitch, which let me somehow let one of my Android apps to run while it was minimized. Too bad I couldn't reproduce this :-)

This is technically possible since I've already encountered some glitch which made this possible (for once). Also, if you minimize/swipe an Android app without letting your finger go off the screen (peaking) you will see that the cover is still alive until you release your finger.

Some people will say that this will drain your battery faster: Well, yes. It might drain the battery faster, but if you don't want it, just do not enable this feature :) For me, it would even battery saving! Right now, if you want to listen to a music video on YouTube, the screen MUST be on, which consumes a lot more battery then.

TLDR; Please give us the option inside the Settings > Apps to enable (separately) Android apps to run them also while they are minimized.

I agree with your general point. The more specific thing, listening to music on YouTube while running another app or with the screen turned off, has been possible all along though. You just need to run YouTube on the native browser for this to work. (And yes, I do realize that there are quite a few other things besides YouTube that one might wish to run minimized, and I do agree with yout general point, as I said.)

@jjaskanen YouTube was one of the examples. There are MANY other apps that has NO native ports that I would like to not getting paused.

Why not use one of the native apps for YouTube? There are a couple of great ones

@Aashish Because it's NOT only YouTube. There is no reason for some apps to be paused when minimized. Personal advice for you: You should have read the comments before posting one...
