I would like to port OpenConnect VPN to Sailfish. Packages exist: http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=openconnect

How to do this? In general, it would be a real discriminator compared to iOS or Android if a standard Linux CentOS/RHEL rpm package can be installed.

You could take the source-rpm package and rebuild it with the Sailfish SDK. While that could work without modifications for some simple packages, I doubt it's that easy in this case. TBH, I suspect packaging will be the smallest obstacle with porting something.

Binary rpms are built to be used on one particular distribution (and architecture), it is not realistic to expect CentOS rpms to install and work on Sailfish out-of-the-box, ever.

There's already OpenConnect-package available on the public repositories. You can install it on the developer mode with pkcon.

Sure, it's bit old (version 3.15) but one having freetime problem could do MR to upgrade it to a newer version at https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/openconnect.
