Safeguarding released SailfishOS updates
Hi,
Since it's publicly known that Jolla sends signals that it's a sinking ship. How about to mirror the updates of SailFishOS which are already released?
I'm afraid people who reset their phone to factory status aren't able to update their OS anymore when Jolla is belly up and the curator took the servers down.
I'm not going to sent money to Jolla to keep it alive because I'm not sure to what or where to money floats to. However I'm willing to provide some goods to cut bandwidth traffic costs.
If someone points me the server to where the update packages are (inclusive official SHA2-variant and SHA3 hashes) so people are still able to update manually. I'll mirror them with my own server. Likely it isn't the fastest and hasn't unlimited traffic, but at least it is something as contribution.

without the guaranty that it is not well enough tested???
cemoi71 ( 2015-11-23 14:50:32 +0200 )editwill you do this steps to test it well enough? must debug it then not?
i'm just sceptic about the end of this good thinking...
@cemoi71 I think he is talking about already released updates, not the upcoming ones (if there are any...).
PetrK ( 2015-11-23 23:32:41 +0200 )editif that are already well enough tested, i have no problem.
cemoi71 ( 2015-11-24 10:39:29 +0200 )editbut first take in consideration that jolla don't abandon the boat.
all their problem are new. seems that they lose an important investor relative shortly.
should jolla define a new strategy and gain investors.
This plan from above thread is just if jolla has no resort any more.
need some more months to know it...
@cemoi71:
@PetrK is right. I meant already released updates, not homebrewed ones.
RoestVrijStaal ( 2015-11-25 00:38:47 +0200 )edit@RoestVrijStaal yes i understand but i find the word of Larswad below pretty wise and make sense. we are far away that jolla disappear...
