Hi all,

I planned to buy a Jolla Phone, to support the company. This morning it was available, but it is now "Out of stock". Will it be avalaible soon, or definitively out of stock?

Thanks for your job.

Jolla is available again! Due to limited batches and raised demand, they are always sold out after a little while.

Still it's the best financial support we as the community can give to Jolla at the moment!

And the vivid demand shows that the spirit of SailfishOS is alive!

You're definitely right: changed postname adding "temporary"!

My guess is that the store must be manually updated. Presently, Jolla is moving into new premises, see Cybette's invitation to help. Therefore, updating the store might not be done yet but the phones might be available later (my speculation). That is at least what happened a couple of times in the recent weeks.

That the phones stayed so long in Jolla's store is one of the problems Jolla has, IMHO

There have been steep discounts for the Jolla phone in the last days. I was tempted to purchase a second one for 170 Euros just for the new battery and as a backup device. Right now, any article in the store is out of stock. Technically this means the store is closed. For good? I hope not.

They have been pretty active in replenishing it. Let's see.

My two pence: funding a new batch of 10,000 phones would require something like 1.5 M$. Probably not a wise investment for an outdated device that will be more and more difficult to sell. Designing a new, state-of-the-art phone would require even much more, far beyond current possibilities (plus several months of work).

I think the only way out is licensing & adapting SFOS to a small selection of top quality manufacturers, very urgently. The userbase must be enlarged => larger market for profitable applications.

objectifnul ( 2015-11-25 12:34:56 +0300 )edit

That'd make a profit of 500Ks only, @ 200 € / device. Thats too few. Meaning, your 1.5M$ devices are way overpriced IMO :)

If there are anyone who wants to get a hold of a new unopened Jolla. I have 2 left on my drawer from the time Jolla hit financial trouble and I bought 5 of them in an effort to support them :) .

You are definitely one hell of a supporter - in both ways! Great! (I did a similar thing, only that I will keep them ;) )

It seems that Jolla leaves produce mobiles by small series, that are out of stock soon be sold out. This corresponds to the current financial difficulties. But I'm glad that this phone is still interested. :)

Not of interest, as the information is already spread by jolla itself. This thread is weird.

Which information do you refer to, @Moo-Crumpus? I have not found anything new from Jolla on this issue.

lakutalo ( 2016-04-06 13:22:24 +0300 )edit

Well, this is as much information as looking at shop.jolla.com, and it came a week later. There is no note stating that it would be sold out for good, which I think is the greatest fear in this thread.

Amazon UK has one left in stock

That won't help Jolla though. Amazon already paid for it.

@pichlo Are you 100% sure about this ? I think arrangements in modern e-shops can get pretty complicated in who has which responsibility, who does what and what gets pay by whom and when.

Also even if it is a like this, I can see a couple of reasons to buy from Amazon:

  • in case the Jolla shop has indeed run out after all (if it for example gets confirmed by an official statement)
  • to show there is actually interest for even kinda outdated Jolla 1 devices
  • it is after all an assured way to get a Jolla in factory condition
MartinK ( 2015-11-25 01:27:17 +0300 )edit

@duncan.stephen : thanks for your answer. Effectivly there is some Jollas in Amazon FR too. But the price is the older one (249€). If in few days, jolla store is not updated, I will purchase it by Amazon (and I don't really like Amazon, for some others reasons).

It was also in stock as today.
