Hi,

I am back on Sailfish 1 (1.1.7.28), because I like the 1 GUI more then the 2 GUI (Hope that Jolla will bring out updates soon). But till that time I want to turn of the system updates notice. I first did a check manual, but if you use the store once then notice show in the notificationscreen. So is it possible to turn the check of with an other method? Some edition in a config file?

I was trying to figure this out too. FYI, I tried deleting the "System update available" notification from the notifications database but it always just reappears. :P

Log out of your Jolla account. You will also lose access to the official Harbour but that is the price for resisting progress.

Resisting progress... Resisting security upgrades!

I wait till Sailfish 2 is functional for me, and is on the same level as Sailfish 1 on speed, gestures, etc. So why I miss security upgrades? Sailfish 1 is not under development anymore, so no security upgrades at all. But for me Sailfish 2 is just not the GUI I loved so much (read Sailfish 1 GUI). I still hope after the financial problems of Jolla they return to the Sailfish 1 GUI, because the Sailfish 2 GUI is only developed because of the tablet, that not bring any luck to them. And I think the Sailfish OS for the Asian en Russia market will be focused on mobile telephones and not tablets.

2.0 wasn't developed for the tablet, 2.0 is developed for random screen sizes, I have a tablet and I can tell that most of it is very bad on a tablet as positions of buttons and interactions are very phone centered. The only difference is settings and events layout...

If it wasn't developed for the tablet, why they totaly changes the GUI? First video's and pictures of the Sailfish 2 GUI are on the tablet. Why allmost totaly change a GUI they already work on for 2 years like that? A GUI that make Sailfish populair. Why does iOS still look and function the same way as 4 versions ago? (They pimp it in the last years, but functional still the same GUI). I think that 'tabletgate' allmost kill Jolla, and I still hope (if they are wise and learned) they go back to the old GUI and gestures.

Old gui, well, they had to change the lockscreen to be detached from the rest as it brought up limitations. The removal and replacement of gestures with buttons and moving events to the carousel are actually from a usability study they made in Helsinki - sure Android users might adapt faster but they sacrificed core features of the navigation behaviour. After trying to adapt I still fail (after months) with some use cases or navigational flaws. The gui changed as they thought it is needed to get more users, another misconception and probably one of the reasons core people left the boat a while ago.
