Winter is tough for batteries. I bet every person living in the Nordic has experienced their mobiles suddenly shutting down.

So, battery warming TOH. Enough said?

The Jolla Phone has 3.3 (or 3.5, correct me) volt power output pins which could provide the power for the heating device. Also, some kind of insulation would be great to have.
Since that would use a lot of power, we could have some software to adjust the temperature. It would also warm up the CPU :)
It could also have a power supply strapped into it. Why not?

What would we need for this? Inefficient cable or sophisticated electric heater?

Could this provide power and heat?

"Since that would use a lot of power" -- That is where this great plan fails.

that would drain the battery probably even faster than the cold.... better think of an isolation TOH

Why not isolation TOH + some aluminium between the batterysurface and the location of the CPU: you can use the CPU heat as heating.

the toh needs its own powersupply

Well guys, that's why the title has “silly” in it. If the TOH could provide enough insulation (without interfering the wireless connections, that is) I think a smart heater could keep it above zero degrees Celsius without much effort. And yes, having some power of it's own would be great on many levels: I have noticed my power bank heats quite a bit while charging. That heat could be used instead of letting it go wasted.
