I get tired to wait stable version of new update. And thought about install unstable. But if in next week will release stable - its better for me, if after two months - today will install unstable. And I think Im not alone with this question

Maybe somebody know estimated date for stable release? I'll be grateful for Your advice

@badazimer Can you elaborate more on stability issues you are experiencing?

@jiit I think he thinks that "early access" means "unstable" and "release to normal users" means "stable" and he doesn't want to install a "unstable release".

One strange thing is that while my tablet got the update to 2.0.1.7 last Friday, the phone is still on 2.0.0.10. Same Jolla account on both devices (and no early access).

It is simply not possible to calculate or even forecast the duration of the quality assurance phase from the date of release of the early-access (=beta) version. But keeping past releases in mind, you could expect somewhat about 2 weeks.

Beta releases usually are only available to a more or less confined group of users, also with companies of much larger scale (MS et al.), and they will not publish guaranteed dates either.

@lakutalo: ;) ... no offense; but have you heard about Software Testing Centers with Software Test Engineers or a release plan and sure a plan is often not static ;). ... and this goes much further they have contracts about this and if they fail the have to pay fines for it ...

... but sure in this case; ... a total different story ;)

Greetings,

Indeed I have not only heard about it, it is also a part of my daily struggles with suppliers and vendors. But as you say yourself, it all comes down to the opposite party you are dealing with. If I am offered an SLA, I might be tempted to sign, but as the payor only under my terms.

How would it be if you had more patience? don't forget that jolla work on reduced team.
Is not surprising that need some longer time.
At the end we want the best, and not a crappy one after a short time.
Right?

I agree with You & not hurry. I write only about estimated date, if time is so long - I try to install unstable.

Understand what you mean... with the currently context, we could understand something else... I let my answer for those who want really that jolla hurry up.

Early Access versions are not considered unstable nor beta. They are official releases, only restricted to a group of volunteers to check if some issues have escaped internal testing.

not really release because not all get it. that's for me more a release candidate. because they won't be registered to the software releases software. The Last one for all get the same name...

This question arises every early-access (EA) release, either in comments or now even as own question. And the answer is, if not already given by the other answers, usually one week after the last EA RC, while I know that this is due 24h now, how about a little patience? If there is no other EA RC within a couple of days, you can expect it to go stable in a couple of days too. But this is guess work and you can always find a blocker bug within the last hour you expect something to go live!

As the others said already, keep in mind that Jolla is working with reduced staff so I would double any expectancy for usual time-frame we had in the past.

Personally I think that one week to collect all the feedback from early adopters and fix all the found bugs would be a tad too optimistic even without the recent staff reductions. You may as well skip it altogether. As someone coming from the software industry, my experience says one month, two weeks as the bare minimum.
