Tracked by Jolla

Is it possible to include to-do's (tasks) in Jolla's native Calendar app (like on the N9)?

EDIT 13.5.14. After more than 4 months no info from Jolla on whether they plan to do something about this. I would be very helpful to have info so one could know what to do about it (wait for it or search for another option).

EDIT 20.10.14. After 10 months and 250 votes I think that this request deserves at least a comment from Jolla.

EDIT 22.06.15. 20 months and 370 votes and still no official comment from Jolla. Apparently it didn't make the task list..

EDIT 23.07.19. 4+y later and 400+ votes and still no official comment from Jolla. Apparently it didn't make the task list.. (flagged as feature-request)

EDIT 17.12.2019 One week left and we hit the 6-year border without any comment or being tracked by Jolla. And I personally did not see any other so high-voted -half a thousand!- request. (okay, maybe except SIP :( )
Really community oriented. What is the sense of voting up here?

that would be nice. there's tinytodo for short todo lists, but integrated into the calendar we could have a timing to the todos:)

oh, just asked the same before seeing this. this feature is a must! tasks need to be included in sync, too.

I second a calendar-integrated to-do list - similar to the one in N9 - on Jolla. :-)

... and, if possible: something like the N9 "Organiser Feed" app? :-)

The n900 had this too and it was really handy.

I think it would be nice with to-do's/dotted lists in the native Note app as well.

There is tasklist which is not from Jolla but integrates nicely with the SailfishOS UI. It lacks caldav sync as well, though. Maybe the author could integrate this feature if asked...

I'd like to have tasks integrated in the calendar, and working with Exchange/caldav! I didn't buy a smartphone to install another app for everything! It's like buying a car with 3 tires. It can't be too had to add tasks to the calendar app.

... any news here? @inte How is the app called? Have you connected to the dev? etc... :) Thank you.

caldav with calendar entries is working well. But tasks are not visible in the jolla-calendar app.

carddav to sync contacts = ok
caldav to sync calendar = ok
caldav to sync notes = fail
caldav to sync tasks = fail

Dear sailfish community is there a way to implement caldav-task to the calendar app and caldav-notes to the native notes app? I dont like no more android apps on my jolla phone.

Tasks now has dates in the tasks, which is a great start - basically satisfies my needs.

Personally I don't like todos in calendars as they tend to clutter it up, but it might be possible to have an option to inject tasks into the calendar, as it is just a database....?

I like calendar and tasks together in the same place separated as it was on the N9

I also figured that tasks with dates are now working somehow. But tasks without dates!? Dit anybody find a solution yet on the tasklist matter?

It seems that there is some level of integration. As my calendar shows me now a dav entry for my tasks but still there is no view for this information yet. Or I have not found it. Could anybody from @jolla could shed some light here please?

I would love to get more attention on such elemtary stuff after all these years! Where do we get more information or may be able to collaborate to have a solution (links)?

Thank You so kindly @Jolla

So you should add your topic to collaboration meeting thread to talk about that with Jolla.

The fact that the "task" calendar is now visible may be a side effect of the calendar discovery code that I added recently in the CalDAV sync plugin. Now, at each sync, the list of available calendars is also synced from server automatically (before, only the calendar available at account creation were listed).

But, no incidences of this task calendar are actually synced by the CalDAV plugin at the moment, because the request is set to filter out all incidences except VEVENTs.

Historically, there were also several blockers in the CalDAV plugin that made this filtering required. I've now removed all of them and the filtering may be left. I'm not doing it now because it may raise issues with incidences that are not shown anyway in the UI (the tasks, or the notes).

To export these incidences to the UI, one need to modify the QML binding layer that was created for events only. @rubdos prepared a MR a long time ago, but it was never merged. Some more work is required in that direction.

Having the tasks visible in the UI side, is yet another job. In my opinion, the community may contribute by providing mockups of what to change in the current calendar UI (how to create a task? what additionnal fields are required compared to events, like percentage of completion, how tasks can be shown on the calendar cover or in the event view…).

All that being said, you can ask your question in a community meeting to actually get an answer from Jolla.
