Two days ago I ordered my first accessory for Jolla - a screen protector. And hey, it fits well! So if you want to buy one, pick this:

http://www.amazon.de/Vikuiti-MySunshadeDisplay-Displayschutzfolie-ADQC27-passend/dp/B00HJ2Q3SA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1389387956&sr=8-6&keywords=jolla

It´s the German Amazon store. For sure you´ll find the same product for your country.

While I am excited about a screen protection for my jolla I am surprised (not to say shocked) about the price.. 10 EUR for a single plastic sheet is rather... hm.. expensive?

PeterParker ( 2014-01-11 02:17:08 +0300 )edit

It´s a high quality piece of plastic :) 3M is a well known company that is making great foil. And i tried enough cheap foils out to know that if you pay a little bit more, you pay only once.

i think i will buy i because the original screen protector is fully striped

There is a German company that sells the same protector but doesn't charge postage costs. protect. Same brand and models.

i'm not too excited about the screen protector (never actually used one) but very happy that a company like 3M has Jolla on its radar... that's rather big news i'd say!

For UK Jollanauts, maybe this might be of interest? A little care with installation provides a really nice finish. My first one has been on for a month of increasingly heavy use.

I can second Savvies. You get 6 for about €2. They last about 3 months before you start noticing scratches and general degradation and by 6 months you really need to replace them but hey, you got 6, remember? That will last you 2-3 years for less than the price of one beer.

Yep, same here. Savvies for my N900 (now sold) and my Jolla, as pichlo said, "6 for €2" delivered to your door and how much protection does one truly expect from a piece of thin plastic?, enough to keep coins/keys/general pocketable items from scouring the screen as you walk/ride.

I bought these ones: http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00HJ2Q5ZG/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for 4,95€ for 2 units.

I would say correct even if they are 1mm too short in top and bottom. Except this point, they are pretty effective and nice to use. At least screen is really protected.

Same remarks ... I bought also these ones. But there were three units ;)

No you haven't been cheated: Vikuiti offer an insanely large range of different 3M plastics for screen protectors, and the price varies a lot. The most expensive is I think one that stops people from seeing your phone from the side. Even within the matte range they've got two types, one of which (more expensive) has extra anti-reflective properties, so choose carefully! The first protectors I've tried have been nice, but too big, so I may try the Vik. again since they were good for my N900.

If any of you live in Finland (or nearby) I've good experiences with Insmat screen protectors.

I can also recommend Insmat, installation was easy and compared to some other screen protectors this does not scratch easily.

Insmat by the way sends to all of EU etc. It is also the screenprotector that was offered by jolla. Their case is also great. Homepage has an english version.

Mine (plastic) just ripped off yesterday. When searching for a replacement i came over my favourite kind of protection (which was not available when i looked first): http://www.maxbhi.com/tempered-glass-screen-protector-guard-for-jolla-jolla.html

Since this seems to be from india i wonder if you would know if this is available in europe somehow (when trying out the shipping cost tab on the page all my tries lead to "Sorry, it seems that we have no shipping options available for selected location.") Anyone an idea how to get that???

There is a thread on TMO discussing various tempered glass options. The results sound rather contradictory so I take it that some protectors not made originally for Jolla may be a bit tricky to fit but they work.

Disclaimer: I have not tried them myself. I am quite happy with cheap and cheerful Savvies.

How is the antireflection feature working? I look after my Jolla so I'm not too worried about breaking the screen, but it's barely readable in sunlight so an antiflare addon might be worth considering...
