Now that the Jolla phone is out of stock, should I assume that there will be no more devices available in future?

@JamesBRD - I'm not sure anyone here can answer that and I certainly wouldn't expect an answer from Jolla themselves, at least not here on TJC.

Alternatively, here's one on eBay UK for sale (New item, posts worldwide apparently, from ESTONIA - read full advert on ebay); http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jolla-Smartphone-16GB-White-/222121313664?hash=item33b7764580:g:82oAAOSw3mpXGyGx

Jolla C just came out.

JoHe ( 2016-05-29 13:13:42 +0300 )edit

yes, and it sold out @JoHe - there are no more phones - Jolla is NOT a hardware company, at least not any more, they are a software/OS company now.

The Jolla C (C for Community) is not going on SALE as such, i.e. not available in the Jolla shop or Amazon or anywhere else, but only through offerings from Jolla - and as stated, it sold out!

I found and posted this yesterday on another link here at TJC , word directly from Jolla via Twitter;

Quote;

"Hi! Unfortunately we don't have any plans on bringing it back at the moment. We apologize for the inconvenience."

The problem with HW is real. Turing appears to be vaporwear and the whole design is mediocre at best, FP2 -when it officialy ends up having SFOS installed on it- is a product designed with a goal other than making an awesome phone for the end user and the Aquafish is pretty meh also.

HW appears to be much more difficult to get right despite what the average entrepreneur believes. :/

You are so right! Btw. Turing looks so ugly...even if it would be available, I wouldn't buy it for 1 Euro.

I would like to see stable release of Sailfish on One Plus X. I know there is a port of it on this phone but in alpha stage.

Hopefully the upcoming Nokia-branded android phones will get official Sailfish OS ports.

why do you want a nokia stamp on a cheap foxcon phone?

Maybe he is wishing for the new Nokia phones not just being just generic phones with Nokia brand, but Nokia actually using their power with their seat on board of directors on HMD to make sure quality and design meets Nokias brand requirements?

There is some Nokia intellectual property involved in the deal, not just a logo.

The road indeed leads uphill for Jolla but I'd rather hope than nag. Sailfish OS is so good it would be nothing short of a sin to drop the ball now.

As for Nokia-branded phones, well, I'd try any Sailfish OS phone. Asian, african or european doesn't really matter to me.

Jollas have been out of stock several times in the past and this is about the Nth question about it. None of us knows if it is out of stock or discontinued. As long as it is out of stock it is probably just that, out-of-stock.

I think the removal button in the shop is broken, just out-of-stock works. Otherwise I can't explain the covers and cases there ;)

PuzzlePhone was promised to get some kind of Sailfish support and release date should be autumn 2016. I hope it is full official support from Jolla with all the good stuff and not just random port.

Puzzlephone seem to be alive and kicking. I would be proud to own a sailfish version.

I am not sold on modularity. I don't see its advantages compared to a thoughtful design offering all the features someone might need and quality components.

Pick and mix the combination best for you or design your own module, reduced cost of upgrading/buying replacements in parts instead of whole phone (this also reduces waste). No-one is expeting this to be the most beautiful or thinnest phone ever.
