Having read about the specs of the Jolla C, I can't help but notice that the specs are pretty much the same as the Intex Aquafish? The Jolla C also has a orangish back cover just like the Intex Aquafish.

Is Jolla selling the Intex Aquafish as Jolla C in Europe?

Have they finally taken the suggestion of selling these through the Jolla Store?

Will more be coming in apart from the 1st 1000?

And if it is indeed the same phone and ready to be sold as Jolla C, does this mean that the Intex Aquafish will be finally out as well?

Technically speaking the phones seem to be twins. Both are made by Intex and almost identical. There are differencies in the supplied set of software and the logo on the back cover also differs as well as the colour (aquafish is orange while jolla-C is red like Costeau's diver cap).

The Jolla-C phones are part of a special community offer intended for developers and enthusiasts. As such they are only part of that community special and not sold separately.

There are some signs that the Sailfish Community Device Program might be expanded at a later date but no promises has been made so far.

As the two phones are so closely related I would guess that the Aquafish phones are being assembled too. ...which means they are reaching the Indian market soon.

@vattuvarg ...which means either that the Aqua Fish is going to reach the Indian market soon, or that the Jolla C is not really going to ship in July. It wouldn't be the first time that Jolla doesn't respect their promises, would it?

The pictures of phones being assembled seems to be legit. Just storing the phones in warehouses to delay them would be kind of strange.

And they promised the first 50-100 to recieve their phones already in June 17th in the International Sailfish Community Event in Helsinki.

My guess is that this patch of devices in the EU/EEA will be used by Jolla to fine tune the SailfishOS, and Intex will roll out the Aqua Fish in India only once the OS is good/perfect enough for a large consumer sale. That would delay the Intex release further, but I can imagine that they would like to sell only a bug-free product.

Is Jolla C the Intex Aquafish?

  • Yes with Jolla logo on the back instead of Intex and no 3rd party stuff pre-installed.

Adding it as a device in the Sailfish SDK identifies it as: Intex Aqua Fish (ARM)

i doubt they will sell it officially in europe soon. cause that would mean: warranty and all the other consumer hardware topics.

Jolla has already said that they won't sell more hardware. I assume that'll stand till further notice. The Jolla C is a gray area as it is a developer program... with a phone. (And yes, hardware wise it ought to be identical to the Intex Aquafish.)

Jolla JP-1501?

I would assume JP-1601 since it is released in 2016 (JP-1301 for Jolla Phone released in 2013, JT-1501 for Jolla Tablet released in 2015)

It might have taken a while to prepare the hardware licensing.
