My Sailfish community device program just shipped (with TNT), but from Hong Kong (China) so my country's imports services asked me to pay 100€ more, to receive the box. This is unacceptable, I bought it from the e-shop, i paid the tax for Greece to receive it from Finland (European country to another european country - no charges) and not pay anything more.

Did you send TNT your invoice from Jolla ? I did for my device and that clearly showed that I paid my taxes already so I did not have to pay anything. They just needed that to confirm taxes are already paid the the senders in Hong Kong forget to add this to their bill.

Yes they see it but they answer to me that because the sender is from Hong Kong i must pay again import charges and the tax for my country, because Hong Kong is outside from Europe.

Hey @Ta_das convert your comment to an answer, I think it deserves to be accepted.

Isn't this a duplicate of this. It could help if you indicated your local TNT, so the regional discussion could happen in the same place.

Please contact Jolla Zendesk. Some people are on vacation, so they might not respond quickly, but they respond. If you receive an automated reply from our Zendesk due to summer vacations which will close your case and marks it as solved, then do reply to the same email to reopen your case, and zendesk people will respond.

I had similar experienced in Lithuania. The TNT Lithuanian department insisted from me paying aditional VAT, on top of the whole sum and also custom clearance fee to them, together it would have been about 100 €.

I had hot and long communication with TNT Lithuania broker, and finally, after looking at parallel JollaC's shipments in other EU countries (https://together.jolla.com/question/137965/jollac-is-shipping-/?sort=votes&page=2#sort-top) she agreed to process the customs clearance in DDP mode. Jolla C is shipped "delivery duty paid", or "DDP", requiring no actions from the customer side, only you might be asked to provide purchase order copy from Jolla shop or pay pal transaction copy, but nothing else.

I suppose it was ignorance or abuse of Lithuanian TNT person, because, when I finally received the phone, there were clearly printed the DDP, on the delivery note attached on-top of the package.

The same happened to me, in Italy. Italian customs made me pay 75€ after applying the VAT on the whole sum (that was already taxed to begin with) and then the obvious clearance fees.

I'll try to get in touch with Zendesk. Already written to TNT but they're yet to respond.

TNT office in my country said that it must be 'DDP (package destination)'. They requested that I provide such invoice from Jolla with that DDP specified correctly. TNT sent me straight to customs office tax processing before I found out about DDP from zendesk.

Unfortunately TNT seems that do not support DDP in Greece(maybe in more countries too) so now I'm waiting for an official response - what to do, from Jolla.

Yes wait for the answer, and after getting it please share the outcomes how you manage to solve the disagreement. There might be various excuses of some local TNT divisions, why they are unwilling to handle shipment in DDP mode and who knows, if some of them are legitimate or not. In my case there were no sound explanation from TNT person why should I pay for shipment handling at the destination country, and no explanation, why the DDP was finally possible, when I refused to pay referring to parallel shipments in other EU countries. I asked for explanation, if there is some customs or e-commerce rules differences in Lithuania from other EU countries, but haven't got the answer.

I was lucky that my shipment was delayed half a day in Honk Kong, so it reached Lithuania few days later, when other Jolla C shipments were already delivered and here, in together.jolla platform people shared their experience and I learned that people in other EU countries had not had to pay for shipment handling and customs clearance.

When at first I consulted with my acquaintance, who works in Lithuanian customs (though other department, not dealing with import, so he wasn't very familiar with the matter) and later told him the outcome of the story, he suspected that it was abuse from TNT person, and encouraged me to publicize the story.

@lytos, I am currently in the same situation as you, Greek Customs are holding the device and request more money to let it go. Fedex is more than willing to handle this, but in the end I will have to pay more... Zendesk are not replying, so I am at loss here... Did you manage to clear the device by providing to Fedex the invoices?

I'm getting my package delivered next Monday. I have no other proof of purchase other than what's available through Jolla shop.Would it be enough to have this invoice available when it gets delivered or what's the fuzz about the DDP?

Yes, it is. You could attach your PayPal payment receipt to prove that the payment you made matches the invoice.
