This a kind of a petition:

Jolla, please sell new phones! It could be Jolla C for everybody - in unlimited quantities and usable in Europe and elsewhere (not just in India like the Aquafish)

An updated Jolla 1 would also be fine. Keep the rf part (thus hopefully avoiding entire new tests for regulation compatibility) and keep the form factor (it is not perfect, but it is o.k. - and TOHs would still fit) Improve baseband components, memory and screen resolution. EDIT: ... and camera (see comment from JS below)

Need much more memory, better camera and camera lens, then I would be happy with the phone (Jolla 1) for some more years. Maybe Usb c port?

If I remember right, they have decided to be a software company, so they won't sell us any new phones. The petition should be changed to somewhat like "give official support to currently available phones", such a petition would have more chances to succeed.

There are projects around that could be supported like the Fairphone or the Puzzlephone, they should be supported. Or another deal like the one from Intex but this time with Nokia, Samsung, HTC or the like.

Nothing -except money- stops them from releasing a reference phone to showcase the capabilities of the SW they produce. ;)

I doubt that TJC has a significant influence on the business strategy of Jolla Oy and I definitely want a new SFOS phone myself anytime soon. But, if they had "the money" would you prefer them to add new features and stability to SFOS or would you prefer they would build up a network for getting good hardware deals?

Nokia seems to be launching smartphones again, already this year (link text. I see nothing that would stop them from offering Sailfish as an alternative OS choice on the exactly same hardware (not dual boot, simply a choice when you buy the phone). In my opinion they have a moral obligation to support Sailfish/Jolla now after their betrayal with Microsoft. The Finnish government should actually force them to make up for the damage they did to their country's economy. But, alas, greed, lawyers and wannabe "entrepreneurs" will continue to rule and lemming-like, narrow-minded Nokia will produce just YAAP (yet another Android phone). Or is there hope?

Lack of HW is a bigger issue at the moment. And has always been. No phone thus far made SFOS shine. Everything was an OS slaped on cheap HW without taking into account the gesture based experience.

As for "features" the problem is mostly apps. There are bugs of course but those are getting sorted -slowly-. Build a nice phone -make it easy for people to make money- and apps will come.

Agreed. There's no Hardware by Jolla nor by any others. So we have a nice OS for what? For a small and even shrinking ecosystem.

or give a little support to all the 'unofficial' ports. I wouldn't mind a xiaomi or oppo do everything Jolla 1 does.

I don't think that supporting UNofficial ports would be a good thing.., mainly in this moment and with this situation.. Better concentrating on official ones and improve them!!!

No I dont want a new Jolla phone. I want official sailfishos on my Fairphone II.

yes. i fully agree. the comunity port works fine (only some small problems). i think an official support could be possible - if jolla really want to support this device. the main question is the lizense stuff and the contract thing between jolla and fairphone. jolla did also not want to build a new hardware. they did not have any hardware stuff in there company and the remaining software develloper should continue fixing bugs and enhance the main apps (browser, mail, contact, ..). there is a lot of enhancements that should be done.

Jolla c or intex are not alternatives, even jolla1 feels quality phone compared to intex and we are not yet talking no exisrence service or spare parts.

Jolla 1 was a catastrophe in terms of hardware quality. Yellow blobs on the display, failing vibrator alarms, flakey SIM card reader, battery needed support to press against connectors...

Seriously, the Jolla C or the Intex Aqua Fish might be plastic bombers but so far, I've yet to encounter all the stuff that happened to my Jolla 1, I listed above.
