We have a thread asking which new features options to add. But there are also features and options which need to be removed as newer developments keep coming.
This should help the OS run smoother and better being lighter.
I would suggest removal of MMS. Does anybody use these anymore?

Removing MMS and other features certainly won't make the OS run smoother (which already runs pretty fast for given hardware). Bug fixes, cleaning up code and using more efficient code to make sure processes execute faster and use less resources, are the solutions.
In Sailfish OS upgrade changelogs, you can see that Jolla is exactly doing that. There is no need to cripple Sailfish OS - and yes, I use MMS quite often :-)
Totally agree with @ossi1967 and @juiceme. In Switzerland MMS are included in most phone plans & depending on the situation it makes more sense to send a picture via MMS than Email - of course there's also WhatsApp and other restricted proprietary services, but I prefer MMS :)

Why should a option for communication on a communication device be dropped if it doesn't affect the system or user at all if it's not used?
I would expect exactly the opposite: get even more possibilities working ASAP: like native Whatsapp support (big userbase) or other alternative messengers so SFOS gets more interesting to casual users.
And from hardware perspective I would even include IR in the phone design (again). It died with the first iPhones but if you see how many remote control apps are using this feature again especially in the era of many living room devices controlled by classical remotes there is a big potential for developers.

LOL I'd rather remove support for proprietary, closed services than their platform-independent alternatives.

It's really seldom used, cost much money and often the receiver didn't configured is device for MMS and Email is much superior (attachments) and SMS/XMPP work much better for fast text-communictiation. But MMS doesn't add bloat. Removing MMS is like removing Cell-Broadcast, both are seldom used but should be supported (e.g. in the later case terrorist or hurricane). If you support GSM and 2G, 3G, 4G than you also support calls, SMS and MMS.

Still when they are useless to me I am not suggesting they should be removed. Just keep them away from me, please.
