Rygel: please help to configure it properly

Hei,

I noticed that Rygel is part of the 2.0.4.13 EA. I have a decent, DLNA-capable speaker that I wojld like to use with my Jolla.

I did # pkcon install rygel I also added a rygel.conf to ~/.config folder.

When I try to start Rygel, i get an error message:

Rygel-ERROR **: rygel-main.vala:301: No media engine found. Trace/breakpoint trap

Please advise.

Meanwhile, I did some investigations, but did not get any closer to the solution... If not farther.

Uf I'm not alone, as I'm getting the same error on jolla tablet with 2.0.2.51. Media engine .so file is in the designed folder, so it is strange to see this error.

It is so annoying to see it working on my Fedora laptop, but not on my linux phone...

Hei @tomoshokas,

I found that I have to explicitly name the media engine in rygel.conf or Rygel won't find it:

media-engine=librygel-media-engine-simple.so

Now I have another issue (to be solved):

Rygel-WARNING **: No plugins found in 5 seconds; giving up...

Where do I find a plugin (i.e: librygel-media-export)? The one copied from my x64 Fedora24 laptop does not work. Neither does the one extracted from a downloaded arm7v package.

It still crashes on for me:

I've tried to false each plugin in /home/nemo/.config/rygel.conf

Hei,

Just for the record, I installed rygel-tracker:

# pkcon install rygel-tracker

Some testing is needed befor I closed this issue as solved.

LVPVS out.

EDIT

After starting Rygel, my Jolla shows up on XBOX360, but I am unable to stream anything.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I can now browse the phone on XBOX but only Pictures can be shown. Music and videos don't work, yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

To be able to use rygel as a upnp renderer I have built rygel with the playbin and the media-export plugins on Mer obs. Here is the repo: http://repo.merproject.org/obs/home:/wdehoog/sailfish_latest_armv7hl/

Maybe it can solve your issue.

Well I thought openrepos required the package and it's contents to be renamed. That is too much work for me. Hopefully Jolla adjust their spec file so they build all plugins for a next release.

Music and pictures work well, but playbin, media export and tracker plugins all crash rygel around 5 seconds in to any video :(

I installed wdehoog's Rygel version with tracker and music and photos work great. However, when trying to play video Rygel seems to crash after around 5 - 10 seconds of playback no matter what device it is played on.
