Hello @Moo-Crumpus, I think your request is a good one but your post I think is a *ess. Please could you write more details of what you are asking for. Then you might get more success with your post. Just my 5cents ;) .... Greetings, megalith

It's probably not a duplicate since you seem to want a native Wire client and the other thread asks for integration into the OS but I thought it would be worth to mention it here.

Meanwhile, I run wire on my Linux desktop and on the ubuntu phablet. Should be portable, shouldn't it.

okay wire needs Electron which is available for arm7. I tried to install it from source. I struggled over 7zip. I need a newer version of it but I'm not able to compile it..

@denis.robel:
Can you share some insights on how to build Electron for SFOS? Given the recent switch to TLS 1.2 that made Wire stop working on any Alien Dalvik version it might be a workaround/intermediate solution to use the Electron app.

I found something which uses wire through the web. Should be buildable for sailfish if someone wants to try: https://github.com/wireapp/wire-desktop/issues/665

If you have a supported browser. Wire doesn't work in the default Sailfish browser. Nice find though. It would be great if there were some kind of native wire app.

Hello, Wire requires android 4.2 or above. On Jolla 1, aliendalvik is android 4.1. So impossible to install on Jolla 1.

Reckon you did not read the top. this is no answer, isn't it.

OK I answered too quickly. After a quick look at wire sources, it appears that wire is a web app built with Electron. Porting it to sailfish os would mean porting Electron to sailfish os.

Porting electron to Sailfish would be great. On Linux, where there are no desktop clients for Facebook Messenger, Skype, etc. someone has made Electron-clients that use the web-versions of those, and they work pretty much as if they were native desktop apps. So I'm pretty convinced electron could bring support for those to Sailfish, removing the need to use Android apps for everything!

Are there any new results about porting Wire to SailfishOS?
