Music player should have equalizer and balance l/r controls.

General sound is not very good,and balance control is crucial for people suffering hearing loss on either ear.

Apple does not subscribe to general standards very well so Apple's headphones are not the best to use with Jolla. Try a decent set of headphones and you will be pleasently surprised at how good it can sound.

Agreed the Jolla has a nice sound via decent headphones. However, if in need for equalizer, player QuasarMX has been ported to Sailfish OS (available in Jolla Store), and it has equalizer + much more as a paid option. Even the free Lite version is already a great player :)

I always had an equalizer with my opo on android, the sound with sailfish is just horrible. :(
And i really dislike the look and feel of this QuasarMX thing. -.-

i'm not sure what the state of development is, but SailPlayer is the only other one I know of implementing equaliser.

What annoys me more in terms of hardware is that if I use headphones that need a bit more punch out the 3,5mm, the Jolla can barely hold up. I use the Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro, 32 Ohm version and yet I have to crank up the volume beyond the warning, almost to the maximum. With some cheaper Sennheiser PX-100 headphones, the volume is fine at lower levels.
OTOH, this is also the case with some Samsung Galaxy Flagships. I guess, mobile phones and Hi-Fi headphones just don't go well together.

Sound not being good needs a general fix from jolla not an equalizer from a audiophil perspective! The hearing loss is a valid point for 'balance' but that is a thing you do not get very often from mobile devices nowadays do you?

That Italian guy brought us a player with EQ for the N9 2 months after the release. I hope someone will be so kind in the near future as well

I am using the Apple headphones from my iPhone and, what can I say, it sounds crappy with the Jolla. I know these headphones are not the best, but they worked well with the iPhone ... because there was an equalizer!
