Similar to the iphone it should always ask you once after phone restart or reboot for the hand typed password to unlock the phone. Currently 2.0.4.14 with Turing phone unlocks the device after reboot with the fingerprint reader the first time.

If you are compelled by law to unlock the device you now have no choice, otherwise turning your device off actually provides some protection even when you arent in control of the device any longer not to mention if someone steals your device they could imitate your fingerprints.

Update: it should ask you once after power cycle or, once every 72hrs.

In addition to your proposal I think there should be the possiblility disable the fingerprint reader without rebooting. For example press the power button 3 times and the phone will disable the fingerprint reader until you entered the lock code.

Note that "disable the fingerprint reader until you entered the lock code" = what happens when maximum number authentication attempts with fingerprint reader with is exceeded -> just place a "wrong finger" on the scanner few times.

Yeah, thats possible but really takes a long time. Have you tried it? For me thats not a useful solution, but seems to be the only one for now.
