simple flash light app [not relevant]
since this is a very useful thing, and through android layer, the led is yet not available.

There is a flashlight app under QA since Dec 23 in harbour. Should pass the approval this time, but i can't exactly promise it :)
Meanwhile you can download it at http://bit.ly/flashlight17 and give it a try anyway.
It will provide short periods of darness sometimes (sort of like a fast stroboscope), but most of the time light is stable as it should be, particularly in dark conditions.
Just an idea: we offten need a flashlight when it's dark. How about binding it to a Long Volume-Button Press? Say, + for 4 seconds to turn on, same to turn off. Play with intensity (is this possible) with +/- when the light is on. Makes sense?
NikosAlexandris ( 2013-12-27 15:39:46 +0200 )editIntensity is impossible to control for now, may be possible if/when proper torch API is supported. As for flashlight on long volume button press... yeah, that would be cool, but shouldn't it rather be configurable centrally somehow? What if three apps want to get the same long press?
Artem ( 2013-12-27 15:51:35 +0200 )edit@Artem Yep, controlling the light by the Volume buttom (when the device is shutd-down) is something that should be rather native.
NikosAlexandris ( 2013-12-28 03:38:30 +0200 )editI'd love to make Flashlight startable on long button press or main screen pulley menu. Ideally there would be some centralized Setting for users to decide what to activate on long press. To my understanding, however, a built-in Flashlight is in roadmap by now, I guess it will be centrally activatable - https://together.jolla.com/question/3690/missing-torch-flash-led-integration/
Artem ( 2014-05-28 23:45:08 +0200 )editI would like to have flashlight as an option in pulley meny (above camera) in lock screen. Also when Camera app open and video mode selected, there could be pulley menu with flashlight in it (for recording videos in dark). This is what I prefer more than separate apps.
According to https://lists.sailfishos.org/pipermail/devel/2013-November/001236.html it's not currently possible to turn flash led to 'always on'. Support for this is promised on later update.
Install F-Droid and from there install the open source app called 'Torch'. Suprisingly, it works and this Android app can turn on the SailfishOS LED!
yeah I think it should work now with the new Sailfish out
renegade22 ( 2013-12-28 21:58:46 +0200 )editThere has already "Flashlight" in the Jolla Store. But not fully functional.
The flashlight app would be great. Let's hope the future updates allow the full functionality for a proper app to be made! There is always need for a flashlight and usually never one to be available at the very moment it's needed!
I did a simple flashlight app ... if you want many feature you welcome ... is called lumino was submitted in harbour and already availble on openrepos
dr_gogeta86 ( 2013-12-31 00:49:56 +0200 )editCreate an app with all-white foreground. A not-so-very-good-flashlight, but still usable ;)

Or if not app itself, documentation how to access led should be enough. There have been few attempts already to make this app.
Frye ( 2013-12-25 19:04:13 +0200 )editI think it should be possible with qtmultimedia, I tried it out but just got: CameraBin error: "Internal data flow error."

kelvan ( 2013-12-25 19:26:04 +0200 )editThe led is now available through Android
