I currently have two email accounts set up on my phone, gmail and a private IMAP. The phone will periodically forget the password to those accounts and thus log me out and stop checking email until I log back in and retype the email password. This is very annoying. My email passwords are long and complicated and not meant to be typed all the time on a phone keyboard. Why can't the phone remember the passwords permanently until I tell it otherwise? The N9 did this flawlessly.

No, it is not the same problem. Firstly this happens without me deactivating anything. It just happens periodically. Secondly, I don't have to trick it, I just retype my username/password when I get the notification about it. (I get a settings-notification when it stops being logged in).

Ah, I tried to search to look for a similarly reported case before posting. It does seem like it is the same. But I'm also experiencing this problem with my non-google email account, which is just regular IMAP (although it doesn't get logged out quite as often).

Yes could be just related, and the Google acc logout notification problem is just that; it shows in notifications and in accs that Google is not in use but still the email most usually works.. In your case the enail stops working, right?

I am a bit confused by the whole problem actually, because it seems to be both working and not working at the same time. If I go to the email app, it will actually load emails. But it shows as not signed in in accounts, and it doesn't load emails automatically anymore, or notify about new emails.

Sounds very much the same as the Google acc logout problem that I linked here, then..

It could very well be that this is the same problem as that other bug, my point is just that it may or may not be google specific. Or it is a different problem entirely with my other email account.
