With the upgrade to 2.0.4.14 on my Jolla the camera app has the option of storing videos and pictures on the SD card. When I try to switch to storing on the SD card in the camera settings, I get the error message "Selected storage is not available. Device memory will be used instead."

I have an SD card of 8 GB formatted with a ext4 filestsystem and plenty of free space (6+ GB). Are there any requirements from the camera app to the fstype or the amount of free space?

I noticed that the SD card, strangely, is mounted twice, at /media/sdcard/XXX and /opt/alien/media/sdcard/XXX. Is this a problem? If so, how has this come about?

Nothing strange about finding your card at /opt/alien/media/sdcard/XXX - it's the same on my device, however, my memory card is formatted with FAT32.

I'm making a complete guess here, but I reckon that ETX4 is the problem. I would be tempted to format the card to FAT32 and try again.

Thanks a lot, fmotl, it worked. I don't know why I did not just try that, but I suppose that as I found no mention on required FS type, I thought it did not matter. Now to finding out how to move OSMAnd-maps to the SD card :-)

@moli if you can add a couple more tags it helps organize threads better, like external SD card, formatting.

Also listing your phone and OS would be useful.

By me it works with ext4 with a 64gb sdcard.
If you give a look here: https://together.jolla.com/question/150407/sdcard-format-function-doesnt-work/
That is how i did so that it could working (at the moment the format function didn't worked for me with this card, maybe because of fat which don't support cards bigger than 32gb).
In the discussion there are other links if you want to go deeper in the stuff.
Just if you are interested on it.

Try: https://together.jolla.com/question/150407/sdcard-format-function-doesnt-work/?answer=150470#post-id-150470

No command prompt entries needed, you need 2.0.4.14 though.

That's a solution which work only on a desktop with windows or mac.
the one above need no desktop. Just the phone in devel mode. There is no so much command to type. so relative easy to understand
But 2x solutions are even better than just one... ;-)

@cemoi71 thats what i was thinking, just another way to do it for folks not comfortable with CP entries :), and entering Developer mode.

both have their advantages and inconvenient.
a third one, and the best i think, would be with the sailfish gui.
then the inconveniences of the 2 others would be gone :-)
