unable to connect my computer with USB

When connecting my device to PC, the cellphone displays a select option with what mode I want to connect (developer, connect, or charge only), although irrelevant of the choice, the Jolla C model, doesn't appear as connected - I can't access its data, it always is as charging only. This happens only after updating my Jolla C model to 2.0.5.6 (Haapajoki).

And how does the PC react? Are you shure you have the correct drivers installed? (I'm very glad with my jolla c on 2.0.5.6 because it always connect in mode PC connection, where I had lots of troubles with j1)

The drivers are ok, problem is in this version, since this problem only happens after I've updated the device. What happens is, I connect, select the mode, and the computer immediately disconnects the device.

@neri:
According to our tests the PC connection is working correctly on 2.0.5.6. On the other hand, the connection is between two devices, and there can be something incompatible between them. Please try one or all of the following:

  • restart both the phone and the PC (a default fix for any problem)
  • set the connection to the PC connection mode (instead of "Always ask") in Settings > USB
  • connect the USB cable to another USB port on your PC (usually there are 2-3 of them)
  • should there be lots of files in the SD card of your phone, remove the card, and try connecting then.

Check 'dmesg'; whatever the case you should see something appear when you connect the device.

Also try with a different USB cable, you might have faulty connector?

Same happened to my Aquafish after last update Not recognised in Win7 any more. Works perfectly in Linux Mint + Elementary OS, so not too bothered

On Ubuntu I had the error: Unable to open MTP device

The solution I found for this was: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vikoadi/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install indicator-kdeconnect kdeconnect

sudo apt-get install mtpfs

After a restart the phone could again be connected to Ubuntu 14.04

My Jolla C has always auto-mounted correctly on OpenSuSE.

Now on 2.1.0.9 I also tried with Win 10: works perfectly there too.

I dug out a Win 7 machine. That mounted the phone (on the 3rd attempt and after a restart) but the directories - Mass Storage and SD Card - were both empty. I subsequently wondered whether Win 7 thought the files were hidden and tried to mount it again - and totally failed. So Win 7 seems capable of mounting it but the process seems flakey. (But I can't guarantee that the USB on this 10+ year old laptop works reliably.)

The auto-mount of my Jolla C stopped working when I've updated to 2.0.5.6 - After updating to 2.1.0.9 the problem persisted, so I've searched for a solution on Ubuntu - which was easy to find, haven't tried yet on windows.
