support playstore offically [duplicate]
I use Jolla and Sailfish from the beginning. I like the idea of running Android apps to keep up with the trends, but there is a but... Every time I see a good service or app I face with a sign : download from istore or playstore. There is no simple way to install some offical apps other than that.
I do not like Google more than most of You but supporting android apps (with a reason) should also mean support for playstore.
Please consider adding support for playstore.
there are easy ways to install playstore for every jolla device. just search for it.

If there is an easy way, then I should find it in Jolla store to install. Jolla want Sailfish to be a regular OS, for average users I believe. It should not be OS for onlt programmers. But one can decide if offical support could move SFOS forward on its ways, or just keep the OS for the hacking community.

tortoisedoc ( 2016-12-30 10:08:54 +0200 )editFrom https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/compatibility.html Hope this answer your question.
"Because Android is an open source project, any hardware manufacturer can build a device that runs the Android operating system. Yet, a device is "Android compatible" only if it can correctly run apps written for the Android execution environment. The exact details of the Android execution environment are defined by the Android compatibility program and each device must pass the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) in order to be considered compatible.
As an app developer, you don't need to worry about whether a device is Android compatible, because only devices that are Android compatible include Google Play Store. So you can rest assured that users who install your app from Google Play Store are using an Android compatible device."
