Since android has replaced dalvik with ART(AndroidRunTime) completely from lollipop 5.0 .. Can we expect SFOS to follow the same path in coming years ?

Lots of posts on that topic exist already, look here: https://together.jolla.com/question/81039/the-future-of-android-support/

The answer is "probably not", since there is no indication of aliendalvik supporting Android >= 5.

Your best bet for the future is sfdroid for community ports, however, that is still alpha-ish when it comes to being ready for the general public. As far as commercial/official SFOS devices go, I wouldn't expect much beyond 4.4, unless there is some vendor that has an implementation of ART for alternative operating systems and the device manufacturer is willing to pay for that.

I think the chances to get android support higher than 4.4 are pretty good according to the eetingminutes found here: http://merproject.org/meetings/mer-meeting/2016/mer-meeting.2016-12-05-09.00.html Licensing partners seem to be interested in further support.

Oh, I didn't notice that; thanks for pointing it out.

Well, I seriously hope it's going to get a higher version. Partners' interest is kind of obvious, nobody would buy a phone that can't even run WhatsApp or other popular apps.
