Though I like Sailfish OS and would love to use the Device as daily Driver but but ... I am not able to use Jolla Device Daily. The reasons are...

  1. Missing Scaling of text which is available in all other mobile OS. This is very important in Phone app and Email App
  2. No sms forwarding facility.
  3. No conference Call (Made available in recent update)
  4. No contact Saving facility for WhatsApp
  5. very basic level  Phone App (tried to use Android App but was not use it successfully as Call log is not synched)
  6. Lock unlock in 2.0 is very odd (1.0 Unlock was better)
  7. Some way to enable the Android Widget... Very useful sometimes. Though not very essential. It can also be in form of minimized app or on notification screen like IOS.
    1. Bluetooth doesn't work well with car audio system

Please contribute your thoughts what else is stopping you from using it as Daily Driver.

  1. Text scaling should be possible by editing the qml directly, no?
  2. Where do you want to forward it? I'd say it is possible...
  3. Just as you said, that's been fixed
  4. Could be so, I don't know anything about whatsit
  5. What more would you like from the phone application, it probably is doable...?
  6. I don't understand, whats wrong with lock/unlock?
  7. I don't know anything about Android

I'm using Sailfish OS as daily driver on JP1. What I need now is a new hardware ...

I simply cannot use Jolla as a daily driver because it reboots randomly, mainly when accepting calls. This makes the Jolla to stand in an honor place at my desk... From time to time I decide to give another chance, namely after a system update. It always ends up to moving back to Android or Windows Mobile phones that I have. It's kind of sad to always have to leave my OS of choice because of unreliability problems which is the reason, in the opposite way, why I choose Linux instead of other OS's on desktop.

@juiceme, in Sailfish 1.x you could lock the phone from one simple swipe from top of the home screen, which feature was lost in 2.0 that brought the Ambiences selector (and an additional lock-screen button) to that gesture.

To unlock in 1.x you just had to swipe upwards twice (and thrice to bring upp the apps launcher); in 2.0 you have to swipe side-ways to unlock.

I agree 1.x was much more to my liking in this fashion and I have understood the alteration for 2.0 was made mainly the Tablet in mind, which is sad.

But it's absolutely nothing to hamper my own, very happy Daily Driving on Jolla 1.

Lack of Band 20/LTE 800 MHz and thus 4G seems to be very effectively holding me back from migrating to use Aqua Fish, though.

Although i was cited with my business phone thread my answer is: nothing. I use J1 as daily phone since i got it. and actually if i read all the reasons here - mist of them seem rather taste- but not function related. sure there could (and hopefully will be) improvments. but for using it as daily phone for private use- it works just fine. and i will use it some years still. no new hw needed.

I'm using my Jolla as main phone since more than three years as well. There are some minor annoying things which require workarounds, but essential stuff is working very well.

Nothing for me to! Previously I owned BB, iPhone and Android devices. Three years ago I installed for fun Stella Launcher Jolla app on my Samsung Galaxy and WOW I was falling in love to SFOS. Well, 1 month later I bought a J1 and It is Still my daily driver!

I feel the same way. Three years of use and it's working just fine. We're still getting OS updates, too!

Yes. Good studied reply. Point 3,4,9 are most needed. Other points also equally important... But not mandatorily required. There are no updates or major feature additions in phone, sms apps. They have not matured over couple of years.

@Vivek

Some points you make are fair. However if you -or anyone else for the matter- need Android stuff Buy an android device. Jolla is not responsible if some company (ie Whatsup) doesn't have native apps in SFOS.

What's the problem with number 3.) Bluetooth headset issues, since I think the headset functionality is good?
