interesting thing i have found: Mail of russia plans to puchase 15.000 new mobilephones with Sailfish OS (RUS) and are looking for Companies to produce it. it should be a kind of Jolla C Phone specialised for the specific postal checkout use.

“Mail of Russia” will purchase 15, 000 smartphones on the native OS

Jolla is somehow involved into that but there are no official news... why? is there something left of the hardwarepart of Jolla?

Details: The winner of the contest will have to ensure the delivery of 15,000 phones Jolla C or its equivalent in characteristics of devices with support for 2G and 3G, slot for memory cards microSD, GPS and GLONASS, camera resolution of at least 8 megapixels, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. He also will have to supply protective covers for the devices.

Just for the record, it must be "Russian Post", not "Mail of Russia".

Question is which hardware do they want to purchase? Jolla C is basically Intex and this is not even available from Intex anymore as far as I know. And a new production for 15000 devices would be much too expensive...why not a Jolla Phone 2 and the Russian Post gets a special charge and the rest of the production can be sold on the market? I guess there is potential for at least 200000 units if everybody who is interested really buys one..could be a little success also for Jolla. Maybe I'm already dreaming again...

i think that is something uniqe only for russian post. every hardware company can create something and take part in the contest. the winner then will have to produce this amount of units. we will see who made it and if that device will also be awailible for public customers. that i dont think.
