broken symlink to /storage/emulated/legacy

I am curious about a broken symlink on my Jolla C.
There's a symlink on the root called
/sdcard
it leads a winding path down the following symlinks
sdcard -> /storage/emulated/legacy
storage/emulated/legacy -> /mnt/shell/emulated/0
However, the /mnt/shell/emulated/ directory is empty
I have manually formatted my sdcard partitions and they appear properly under /media/sdcard/<UUID>
Is it safe to delete the broken symlinks?
