Well, icon is there but no connection strength. At the time of screen shot my wifi connection was 52 dBm.

Edit:

After running this vpn thing for two weeks, I realize/think the "non working" WiFi indicator must be by design. WiFi Indicator off, means tunnel on. Indicator on, means tunnel off.

Yes it works perfect when manually configured. App crashed when trying to import config file.

I'm not sure all is needed (it was a bit confusing), but following settings made it work. I think some of them is not needed, as they are already set by OpenVPN configuration file, but I did not have the time to investigate further. Of course it also depend on your VPN provider.

First page:

  • Server address

  • Certificate Authority file

  • OpenVPN password file

Advanced page:

  • Protocol type

  • LZO Compression = yes

  • OpenVPN configuration file

  • Prevent caching credentials

  • Enforse remote certificate type = server

@eson: about your edit, I don't think it can be by design. The WiFi indicator should indicate the connection strength at all times.

@nthn Well, if it really is a bug I must say it's a very useful one, because when WiFi indicator lights up, it's the only indication you'll get, when tunnel goes down. VPN indicator is still lit.

Do you think I should reopen this issue? Jolla has not shown any interest whatsoever.

I think so, yes. The VPN indicator should show the status of the tunnel, not the WiFi indicator. Not many bug reports get a reply by Jolla btw, it's mostly the ones they're already aware of.
