Are there any plans to build SailfishOS using the lastest cm -> now LineageOS versions? There currently only is a libhybris 13 version. But OEMs will soon start developing for Android 8 (Orio).

Is it possible to build SFOS using a LineageOS 15 (or 14) Kernel and Drivers? Is it a big effort to release an up to date Android and SFOS or could they share the same kernel?

I know that there's an german OEM building an high end device (release Q4 2017) considering to offer SFOS alongside LineageOS. If one could use Android Nougat (or higher) kernel and drivers the hurdle for building SFOS would be much lower. Any info on possible problems or amount of work to do this would be appreciated.

Are you planning to port sfos to some device or just asking?

I'm working for a company, that is considering releasing SFOS on their new phones. But Jolla didn't answer just yet, so I'm trying to find information elsewhere. I would be happy to port it aswell, but my skillset is pretty limited in that regard.

That's not in my power, and not even close to certain, if SFOS will ever work out. But if you're interested, have a look at www.shiftphones.com during the next months.

the shift phones look very interesting to me, if they would be available with official sailfish (meaning android support) you have a potential customer here ;)

@matthiss 1. read https://sailfishos.org/develop/hadk/ 2. there is an excellent faq at https://sailfishos.org/develop/hadk/ 3. if 1 and 2 fail, ask on IRC :)

1 and 2 should get you about 95% working usually

I tryed an initial port on LeEco Le Max 2. 1 and 2 got mi stuck on breakfast $DEVICE, and there's no way to make LineageOS be a CM, or make hybris think so. I am waiting for a release of HADK for 64bit devices, and hopefully with a clean migration from cm to lineageos (or whatever, but with better instructions).
