Any information on the sudden non-functioning of Here WeGo location? Last weekend noticed that my Jolla-C Here WeGo couldn't find location eventhough GPS worked and by downloading modRana was able to locate my position. Any information on this as the Jolla Store has had multiple comments already that positioning in Here WeGo doesn't work?

What version of Sailfish are you using? What version of Here WeGo are you using? What 'locate' options do you have set? What happens if you delete and re-installed Here WeGo?

Why is this a wiki?!

On Jollafied AquaFish running latest version of Here WeGo 2.0.11510 - 8.30.70.153 no such problems.

I had the same problem with 1:2.0.11430 on Jolla C and downgrading helped. Tried 1:2.0.11510 from jolla store, but doesn't work for me. See also store comments, there are others that report the same problem. Best way is to give feedback from the app (feedback => get support) to get your problem in the ticket system of here

After install version com.here.app.maps-2.0.11424 the app job normal with your GPS. Who have problems please downgrade version!

I confirm downgrading works, I'm using 2.0.11397 but some newer version could work.

I solved the problem. I installed an older version of here (2.0.11424) and it works. Thanks

That's a workaround :) It's truely fixed when Here Technologies release a workin version - which according to @rgrnetalk is in the works.

Direc ( 2017-06-23 13:50:08 +0300 )edit

Thanks for the workaround, I had the same problem. Downloaded v2.0.11457 from apkpure.com and then the gps-positioning worked again. :-) (All tested versions above v2.0.11457 fail to do so)

Not a real solution, but what did work for me (Intex AF) was installing an older version from https://www.apk4fun.com/history/30429/ I went with the one from Feb 22 and that works as expected. I'd rather install from Store though :/

NOTE: As @DarkStarSword below writes, you'll lose your downloaded maps, because you first have to uninstall Here WeGo before you can install the one from apk4fun!

I'd also rather install from the store - uninstalling HERE to install an older version meant that all the maps I had downloaded for offline use were wiped out and I had to download them again.

Downgrading without losing maps is possible by renaming the /home/nemo/android_storage/Android/data/com.here.app.maps directory before uninstalling (may require root privileges).

Seems to be working now, tested couple of times.

HERE 2.0.11709, Jolla C, Sailfish OS 2.1.3.7. The previous OS version was already working.

I downloaded the newest version a few days ago, 2.0.11524 / 8.30.70.153, and I'm now able to get continuous location as expected...

[EDIT] ...once. I haven't been able to make it navigate properly the second time, so this version is broken, too. Sorry about this, it really did work once.

[EDIT] I'm running Sailfish X 2.1.3 / 2.1.4 and the most recent version of HERE WeGo in Google Play Store, which is 2.0.11989. Positioning works as expected now. Can you try the current version?

Are you sure? The latest version that worked correctly on my Aqua Fish was 2.0.11424.

ziellos ( 2017-06-30 14:37:07 +0300 )edit

The two versions I personally confirmed were broken were 2.0.11480 and 2.0.11510 (as you say, 2.0.11424 works fine). Right at the moment I'm not willing to upgrade to 2.0.11524 to test since I'm about to move house and cannot afford any downtime.

DarkStarSword ( 2017-06-30 19:53:23 +0300 )edit

Huh. Weird. I got the position correctly once and only once - it did work. Now I can't get it to work, no matter what. It seems that 2.0.11524 is also broken.

Updating my answer...

Yeah, I was able to get the broken versions to work on occasion, but was not able to find a reliable method to do this so it seemed more down to luck than anything I was trying. Thanks for testing the latest version anyway.

Yes it works, Jolla C

olli ( 2017-07-25 10:22:52 +0300 )edit

I cannot confirm any change with 2.1.1.24 on my Aqua Fish / Jolla C. The latest Here Wego versions are not able to continuously keep GPS fix. They do it once (and center the map), but then again "searching for GPS". Navigation is not possible that way. Latest working version is 2.0.11424.

ziellos ( 2017-08-01 17:58:11 +0300 )edit

i am on 2.1.1.26 and Here WeGo ver. is 2.0.11539 (8.30.73.154) and it works!

Anyone having problems in Jolla settings > Apps > Here WeGo > Clear cache + Clear data. Then unistall and reinstall.

So let me summarize the current situation. This is what I understand so far, I would like to ask you to add information or correct facts if necessary.

  • When running on Aqua Fish or Jolla C, current Here Wego isn't able to continuously maintain GPS fix. Instead, GPS fix toggles on/off forever.
  • Other phones running Sailfish OS are not affected (Jolla 1 anyone?).
  • Other apps (native / Android) are not affected.
  • The issue is not specific to some Sailfish version.
  • Latest Here Wego version without that issue was 2.0.11424 (2017-04-19). I have tried all newer versions, they all have the issue.
  • Here support is aware of the problem, they said they would be working on a solution. I have no idea if that was only a standardized answer because they didn't reply to any of my recent emails.
  • As far as I know, there is no other workaround than using an older Here Wego version.

Since Here Wego is one of the most-used apps on my Aqua Fish (Jolla C), I would really appreciate a solution. Sooner or later the older app version will stop working, possibly will be incompatible with some map update.

I am still hoping Here Wego running on Sailfish X isn't affected (would be great if someone could test that). If so, waiting for my favourite navigation app will be over in October!

Workaround: Install GPSInfo from Jolla store, start it and wait until you have a GPS fix, leave it on and then start HERE WeGo, or Sports Tracker, or any other Android app not getting pisition otherwise. Location should now be immediately available.

Perhaps Jolla could have a look at this bug?

Oh yeah. Tested on Jolla 1.

It's not a Jolla issue, but a Here WeGo issue.

ziellos ( 2017-06-22 16:26:27 +0300 )edit

I'm not sure you are seeing the same issue - activating the GPS via other means did nothing to help HERE WeGo track location after the initial fix (I used the GPS test in the built in CSD tool accessed via rapidly tapping the build number in settings->about product 5 times, but I don't see any reason that would be any different to using GPSInfo), and other Android apps (and older versions of HERE) are not affected. I'm using an Aqua Fish - from what I gather this issue is also present on Jolla C, but I haven't seen this mentioned on Jolla 1.

DarkStarSword ( 2017-06-22 16:39:15 +0300 )edit

I may have encountered a different issue, then. If I have GPS enabled and no app reading the location, WeGo can't make the GPS icon appear. If, say, GPSInfo already uses GPS i.e. the icon is there already, WeGo can use the location just fine. That was what I tried to explain.

Direc ( 2017-06-22 18:53:52 +0300 )edit

I'm using 2.0.10965, newest from Aptoide, hence I don't suffer from that bug.

Direc ( 2017-06-22 19:59:02 +0300 )edit

I have this problem too with Here WeGo. It does not find GPS and crashes in drive mode. I have GPS enabled on my device, so that's not the cause. The GPS app from the Jolla store works. Downloaded and installed the Here app from apkpure. Deleted and re-installed it again. Don't know what to do about it. Indeed. I use a Jolla 1. On my ipad mini HereWeGo works fine. Here gave an update on 7 august. Probably it is not compatable with Sailfish anymore?
