Hi,
With 2.1.1 update Jolla drops support for Google the only popular messaging services available in Messages app are SMS/MMS. So there's a question, would it be possible to support Hangout via telepathy hangups plugin?

Google Hangouts is a proprietary service and noone can use it via 3rd party application/service in commercial devices

If someone starts working again on telepathy-hangups (no updates since 2015), it's only a matter of installing the plugin on your device, and everything will work.

Just a side note: You can use Google Talk via XMMP protocol support until Google turns that off finally. I have it running here without any problem.

(server: hangout.google.com, port:5223) and then no account in "Settings" - "Presence" menu.

I've deleted server and port fields, and add my.email@gmail.com + password to "Update sign-in credentials", but still no connection.
tom.i ( 2017-08-09 09:39:34 +0200 )editIt works for me without any problem. Last thing you could try is completely removing and readding your XMPP account. Otherwise Google might have turned off the xmpp support for some accounts or based on the country you are in.
