half a year after this post, I am going to replace my 1year old f5121 with the Xperia X dual sim version f5122. since I don't want to use the google play services on my sailfish, I would like to know if someone successfully installed Sailfish while keeping the original android os. I would also highly appreciate if the camera quality at least stays somewhere close to the original OS, even though this sounds probably like a dream only.

However I'm currently not aware of any dual boot solutions that at least officially support SailfishOS, but being Linux-based I wouldn't be too surprised if changes are minimal or unnecessary.
Don't think it should interfere with the updates or anything as with a dual ROM bootloader the ROMs should think they're running on the device proper and shouldn't be even be aware of the other ROM.

In short, russian Open Mobile Platform (OMP) has demonstrated a phone with 2 OSes - Sailfish and Android - which are selectable on power-on.

I seem to recall that while possible it could create problems with updates. You won't get if from jolla thats for sure.
