I tried to install and run new fennec-56 that changed minimum android-api to 16 and it does not launch...
Any ideas?

I was using beta Firefox 56 (through yalp) without any issues until this morning... I am now using the beta version 57 ;-) and it seems to continue working flawlessly ! (on Jolla C)

Try removing the Cache for the app in settings -> apps -> firefox and see if it makes it work.

The official Firefox 56.0 for Android runs well under AlienDalvik on a Jolla 1 phone. It (certainly) has also API16 as requirement, but that is exactly what the old AOSP4.1.2 based AlienDalvik provides.

strange, doesn't work for me. Version 55.0.2 and previous do.

Firefox 56 runs fine on my J1 as well. However, I do have one app (banking app) which only seems to start once after a clean install of the app. It used to work fine. I'm on SFOS 2.1.1.26.

I now managed to install and run fennec-56.0.en-US the localized DE Version doesn't work for me anymore.

I can confirm this: fennec-57.0.en-US.android-arm.apk works, the German (DE) version fails to start (journalctl showed sth. like "inactive app is misbehaving - tried to show a window!").
