From SD card to device? Or from device to SD card?

There are detailed instructions ... You can make a backup on sd card and then restore everything ...

But the question was not about backup. It can be understood as how to import contacts from another device with sd card into the device.

With SailfishOS 1.0.2.5 it is not possible to import contacts from SD card directly to People app, i.e. the vCard files in the SD card do not show up in Settings > Applications > People.

However, it is possible to bypass this problem in the following way:

  1. Install appliation File Browser from Jolla Store.
  2. Launch File Browser.
  3. See the pull down menu and select 'Go to SD Card'.
  4. Find the folder having the vCard file in the SD card.
  5. Tap and hold the vCard file until the context menu appears.
  6. Take command 'Copy'.
  7. See the pull down menu and select 'Go to Home'.
  8. See the pull down menu and select 'Paste'.
  9. Now visit Settings > Applications > People and import the contacts 'From file'.
  10. You may wish to delete the vCard file now. Using File Browser tap and hold the file and take 'Delete'.

Well, I realize this is not "from terminal code". It is still an easy way to import contacts from SD card.

In 1.0.2.5 you can use following command on terminal to import contacts from SD card:

[nemo@localhost ~]$ invoker --type=generic vcardconverter /run/user/100000/media/sdcard/yourcontacts.vcf
