So, sailfish X can't utilise full CPU power, can't use full camera resolution and doesn't use all of the internal memory. What else is missing or crippled compared to the J1 or Xperia X with Android?

Yes, I agree with:

  • camera resolution (software/licensing issue?)
  • bluetooth (works quite well already)
  • compass and other sensors
  • nfc
  • fingerprint (not really my thing...)

And I add some more:

  • tethering (internet sharing),
  • smb/cifs support for connecting to network shares
  • system partition only 2 GB (too small)
  • update aliendalvik/android to at least 6.x
  • native encryption
  • native firewall app
  • security management of apps
  • app store with payment for developers
  • native maps application (license issue?)
  • easier installation of SFOS X and removal of the yellow warning triangle at boot

... and all the other buggy stuff and missing more native apps...

Well, hoping for intense update cycles now. Nevertheless, I'm quite happy already with my X, I had expected worse :-)

@melg01 i'm not sure we need a wishlist of things sailfish os never had, theres plenty of other questions about that

@melg01 Well yes, a lot is missing. If you want Sailfish OS, then Sailfish X on Xperia is one of the few options you have. There is a price tag on freedom.

  • CPU power. use chromium from F-Droid to get good browsing performance
  • camera: use any of the F-Droid cameras app. It's better.
  • internal memory: use an SD card (Ext4)
