I successfully restored a backup from my Jolla phone (2.1.2.3) to my Xperia X (2.1.3.5). Contacts, accounts, gallery, messages worked out alright.

The only strange thing is that no call history was restored to the Phone app, although call history was restored to Contacts as latest numbers used. I can also see the more detailed conversation history when opening a certain contact. But call history in the Phone app is empty.

For the record, I don't have a SIM card installed yet, as I need to get a nano-size card. I don't know if this could have some impact on the behaviour.

This is not a big problem for me, but it would be interesting to know the reason and perhaps it is useful information for coming updates.

As the call history seems to be available in the system, I assume it is possible to make it visible in the Phone app. Does anyone know how?

Update:

I made a backup from the Xperia and compared the contents with the backup file from Jolla 1. The \Phone\blobs\ directory in both backup .tar files have the same commhistory-tool_calls.dump file, which both seem to be the same size. It seems to contain familiar phone number data also, so it looks like the call history is there somewhere, but my Xperia does not show anything in the Phone app.

Just for reference, there is a question about a more difficult problem concerning Jolla 1 => Xperia migrating. https://together.jolla.com/question/171840/xperia-jolla-1-migrating-problems-to-the-xperia-update-every-step/

How have you restored the backup? I do not see restore option in Xperia.

Could you move the SIM to Xperia and see what happens?

I will see what happens with a SIM card, but I'm still waiting to get a nano-SIM from my service provider (micro-SIM in Jolla 1).

Finally, I got the new SIM card. I installed in my Xperia and now the call history suddenly showed up.

So I don't actually have a problem any more, but I still think the behaviour is weird or wrong. In practice, if you don't have a SIM card, you can't make calls anyway, but in my opinion, the call history should be shown anyway so you know that it actually has been restored.

The restore option is lowest in the backup window. It was first greyed out when I had an empty SD card, but when I copied the backup file from Jolla 1 to the SD card (root dir), the restore option became enabled.

(swedish "Återställ" = Restore)

Thanks @TomC. I had to select "update your backup" first, after the update restore was available. After taking backup of the backup file it wasn't so scary to try "updating backup".
