[idea] Same behaviour for topmost row of icons whether apps are started or not [released]

Not sure if not asked before, did not find similar idea though.

I find the default behaviour of the topmost row of apps somewhat confusing:

By tapping on an empty home screen you make 4 topmost apps appear, but if an app is running then tapping on the home screen does nothing.

In my opinion it would be a more consistent behaviour to make topmost row of apps to appear on tap all the time. There is a patch to make these buttons always visible, but I like the tap-to-show more. For 4 most used apps the shortcut to start would be two taps on the screen instead of swipe and tap. Might save a few milliseconds :-)

Excellent idea, indeed! I think the idea was brought up somewhere else as I had it myself and found it at the same time. I hope I can find it to link it hereto. In the meantime get my up-vote as well! :)

Great idea. Either this or pinnable app tiles!

I'm sure it has been discussed before and there was a clear majority in favor of your idea. But I can't find the thread either. ;)

As far as I recall the current behaviour is not meant to be a shortcut. It's meant to be a help for new users who see a blank screen and don't know where the apps are. "Look down, here we are!" - As soon as one app was started, it's clear the user doesn't need this hint any more.

I believe one of the reasons why they didn't implement the desired behaviour once people asked for it was that it wouldn't work consistently. It only works reliably on an empty screen, else it depends on the number of open apps.
