A quantum browser?
The current web browser for Sailfish OS is based on Mozilla code. Now that Firefox has been upgraded to Firefox Quantum, will the Sailfish browser also benefit from that new code?

Sailfish browser is currently based on Firefox 38, Jolla doesn't even have resources to upgrade to 52 (which is the latest ESR version), let alone 57 which is much harder to port because it depends on rust.

Read the full article, it was misprinted and finishes the post with;
"Mozilla reached out to us and said that some Project Quantum improvements would arrive in Firefox 57 for Android. The article has been corrected."

ApB ( 2017-11-26 15:39:52 +0200 )editWhy not crowdfund a native version? How much would it take?
vattuvarg ( 2017-11-26 16:11:42 +0200 )edit@vattuvarg We already have non-native Firefox on this OS; Aliendalvik runs it just fine (but I haven't tried Quantum yet, I admit).
Federico ( 2017-11-26 16:14:18 +0200 )editI've tried Firefox Quantum on my (Mageia) Linux desktop. It is clean and fast.
