Sailfish 2.1.3.7 :

Xperia X wont play an aac stream in allRadio. There are only distorted sounds coming out when aac is played.

On Jolla however , the allRadio would play an aac stream w/o problems !!

Any explanations ?!?

EDIT (05.01.2018): Strange things happened

I updated Aptoide (installed over Store) and also some Android apps over the Aptoide (i.e. not sure which action led to the effect) and the AAC streams are now played without problems from AllRadio.

What does it mean? It seems to me that the SFOS Dalvik adaption is flawed ... What is this, which AllRadio uses, and it is overwritten by the Dalvik or Android applications?

Have you contacted the author of this 3rd party application?

@Edz: No need for such rhetorical questions. And to stress this out: the problem seems to be in Sailfish, and not in AllRadio.

my comment was not rhetorical, it was genuine. Fair enough, you know better.

@Edz I did contact the developer, but he doesn't know either, and wonders also why is like this. Sorry, about using rhetorical.

No worries @HeinrichJolla - It's all good :)

LLs vPlayer will do the job. https://openrepos.net/content/llelectronics/lls-video-player

EDIT : I experienced the 'aac' issue once with LLs player, then it went normal (so far).

Your answer is: dont use AllRadio, right ?

HeinrichJolla ( 2017-11-27 23:19:59 +0200 )edit

No. Don't make me say what I didn't say. AllRadio is an excellent app. By the way it's playing perfectly https://radios.rtbf.be/laprem1ere-64.aac

@objectifnul Have you tried it with AllRadio? Then switched on and over to different streams and it worked? Except you are on Jolla, on Xperia it wont work!!!

HeinrichJolla ( 2017-12-09 23:41:16 +0200 )edit

Working fine on my Xperia X with 2.1.3.7

objectifnul ( 2017-12-17 14:03:46 +0200 )edit

@objectifnul why spreading fake news? AllRadio won't play Aac, and you are talking the whole time about another player

I previously made this observation in the comments:

This is a very annoying problem. As far as i have noticed, AAC streams with the extension SBR will play the stream very slow and AAC streams without the SBR extension works fine. One strange thing is that streams with SBR+PS extensions plays fine too?! Maybe someone here knows more about theese extensions than i do?!?

And i believe i have made the following conclusion of the problem:

All AAC streams using MPEG2 crashes or play very slow (half speed?). All other AAC streams plays just fine. What is strange about it is that MPEG2 streams works fine in Jolla1. And maybe it is a little strange that some radiostations streams audio in MPEG2?!?

Not sure what to do about it though?

In many cases, problematic AAC streams (example: http://war.str3am.com:7600/) will be played correctly after two or three trials.

@objectifnul: I cannot confirm this behavior on my Xperia X (on Jolla 1 with the same SFOS version everything works fine).

Try this: https://radios.rtbf.be/musiq3-128.aac with LLs player (https://openrepos.net/content/llelectronics/lls-video-player) (command: Enter URL) If it works, you have an adequate codec.

Thx, works. So for Received its not the codec.

Found the problem. Was related to the wifi settings in router (only web browser and email). Thanks again!

It happened again, after the new release ...

Would this be related to (for example) Bandcamp not playing?
