As I understand him, he quite likes the interface but doesn't think Sailfish OS has a bigger future because Google and Apple are too big by now. Also he mentions that Apple has a more secure platform than Android.

I think that it may be true that Apple is more secure than Android but I also think that Jolla wants to achieve an even more secure software. One that the user has complete control over even if they aren't quite there yet. But I also like that Mr Mobile as a more mainstream YouTube reviewer shines a light on Sailfish OS. The more people know of Sailfish OS the more will think of testing it.

It's funny to see though that compared to the startup operating systems, Sailfish OS is still around, compared to Ubuntu, Firefox OS etc.

yes, those three were on the same stage back then in MWC some years ago - now all have gone but Sailfish OS...

what the badly need is one/some decent BUYABLE device. out-of-box...

let's hope we will see something in Barcelona soon...

@nosferatu Ubuntu Touch aka UBPorts is also still around and now 100% community developed ... still not as mature as Sailfish but at least alive ;-)

I dont know other linux-like OS as Sailfish (one day i even installed web server and made a website on oneplus X with sailfish onboard, lol), so all android and iOS should step back.

I don't like todays politics of company about developing only OS as Jolla phones where cool.

I agree with Zlutor ... When somebody ask where to get my Xperia ... I said nowhere ! Only a devlepper or a person in computing can let it work :( ... The only way to develop SFOS is device whit it direclty in the box ! I wait MWC ... but i don't thing it is for this year again ...

I think it's the first reviewer that successfully explains the impact of Fitt's Law on interface design.

Most of the gestures in Sailfish OS either start from directly from under the finger (easy point to reach), or from big areas like the borders, and most gesture can be dragged for long distances.

The video gives a nice example of app's menus : - android : hit precisely the small '=' icon at the corner - sailfish : just pull the whole screen down, wherever you thumb happens to be at the moment.

Yup. Modern oversized phones would greatly benefit from Sailfish interface. Of course pulleys have their limitations (like, in FBReader the pulley is quite long and thus the topmost items are sometimes unreachable).

That's why I think, for me 5inch phone under android felt too much (so I eventually returned to Sony compacts) while 5 inches under Sailfish are alright (even if that is quite bulky 5 inches - Jolla C, Inoi and even X have really big margins by modern standards).

To be fair, in most android apps menu is now accessible through swype frome screen side (i actually think that was made popular by Sony who introduced that idea in their apps in 4.3 ROMs).

Talking about the review - it is fun how he compared the app drawers. When I saw the new Android launcher with its swype-from-the-bottom to open the menu, solid background and vertical scroll, I immediately thought about Sailfish and MeeGo.

And I'm not sure if that applies to stock OS but in some custom roms there are suspiciously familiar clocks where you set time by moving marker around the clockface

I think pulleys can be a two-sided sword. Quite often I found myself cursing when for instance im trying to swipe up or down and the pulley opens up. Needs tuning still imo, but its a great improvement,
