Will Sailfish 3 slow down the development of 2.x? [answered]

Jolla's brand new Sailfish 3 page announces a number of features many of us have been waiting for. New APIs for developers, Bluetooth LE, Android version upgrade etc etc.

I'm wondering if at least some of these things (some of which are looong overdue) will sneak into 2.x releases so Sailfish 3 will just have them once it's available... or if from now on, 2.x can be considered in maintenance mode with all big changes to be held back until SF3.

Those of you who follow the code more closely than I do - do you have an idea or an opinion?

Is that an interface for feature phones on the bottom picture? That's pretty great.

No. Sailfish OS is an evolution so when everything is in place the OS reaches version 3.

Is this what you know or is it an educated guess based on how it should be done?

Jolla isn't going to be interested in maintaining multiple OS branches, so I'd expect the same situation as with the 1.x -> 2.x transition.

So much of what's announced for 3 will be seen before in an 2.x release? Sounds good.

yes, but more likely is, some stuff that is announced for 3 will come with 3.0.1 or 3.0.4 or 3.1.3 ..........
