Hi. I've owned Jolla 1, OP X port, and now Sailfish X and have to say Jolla's attempts to get a good camera are woeful. Why does the community port of OP X (thx taaeem & kimmoli) have better functionality in choosing resolution and higher quality pictures/videos? This cannot be related to hardware only especially as OP X has 3.4 kernel to work with. Really looking forward to future SFX updates wrt camera that mimic the OP X port or better; it can be done. PS I have searched and only found this but don't want to rely on Android apps for functionality that could be standard. Cheers.

So, what exactly is your 'feature request'?, sounds to me more like a whinge than a request.

It does come off that way and guess this could have waited until morning as it's midnight. Fifteen or more different camera resolution options and similar with video along with video bitrate from 2Mp up to 4k. Fully realise there are limits in storage at 4k but for those of us with F5122 working and ext4....

Well what can you do when you have to work with the camera drivers provided by AOSP??

It has nothing to do with kernel versions nor the actual camera hardware, it is a drivers issue. The reason XperiaX camera is better on Android than SFOS is that on official Android it uses Sony:'s proprietary drivers that are not available on AOSP or SFOS.

So Sony allowed Jolla to use just two of the available resolutions and it just so happens those same two resolutions are on Jolla 1...

Nope see camera plus app which has more resolutions. Its just that they only provide the two resolutions that somehow work with the crappy AOSP driver.
