Just an idea/suggestion - after sooo loong time since the current Exchange connectivity has functioned properly - maybe it would be time to call it dead and make an effort to transfer the functionalities to integration with (Android) Office Outlook - eg - make stable & fully functional integration solution on:

  • Calendar integration
  • Contacts integration
  • Notifications...

...so SFOS(X) development efforts would have one less thing to worry about

(yes I know this is heresy and sacrilidge etc, but we are getting nowhere with the current plan/way :( )

You're asking to stop development of a native solution and start working from scratch on somehow finding a way to completely integrate a specific Android application with every part of Sailfish.

Yeah right. Force users to install alien dalvik just to use an Outlook account? No thanks.

Exchange ActiveSync synchronization may appear to be unstable and oversensitive, but in daily use it works very well. Avoiding to synchronize too much devices with the same Exchange account, regularly re-starting the sailfish-eas service, and general mailbox housekeeping help to keep synchronization alive.

Just the opposite should happen: Jolla announced that missing features such as sending and accepting meeting requests will be implemented in the next Sailfish release. Finally!

I'm not sure why one could prefer an Android app over the native solution integrated into the OS.

that's not a suggestion, that's surrender.
